Positively Wellness Programs for September 1998

  Positively Wellness programs are ongoing weekly skill-building, coping, and education sessions. Participants can attend one or more sessions of each program. No advance registration is required, except for Exercise Therapy, where an individual Exercise Therapy Consultation is required prior to attending this class.

Exercise Therapy

This class will be specifically directed towards health related fitness of recovering cancer patients. This will include cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition. Please dress appropriately.

An individual Exercise Therapy Consultation is required prior to attending this class.

Exploring Holistic Healing

This is a networking group focusing on nutrition, vitamins, herbs, and alternative methods of healing. Each week will include excerpts from Bill Moyer's "Healing and the Mind", Andrew Weil's "Spontaneous Healing", and Deepak Chopra's works. Bring your own wisdom to the mix!

Managing Recurrent and Metastatic Disease

Today, many people are living with cancer as a chronic illness. This discussion group will focus on the unique issues faced by people with recurrence and/or metastasis. Com share you experiences and learn coping strategies to enhance your quality of life.

Reflections on Spirituality and Cancer

If we think of "spirit" as energy aroused from within the deepest core of an individual and "spirituality" as referring to whoever or whatever gives meaning to our lives, we can see that we are discussing a phenomenon available to all, regardless of formal religious affiliation. During this session, participants will explore their own spirituality and the ways in which it both impacts and is impacted by their cancer experience.

Networking Groups
Multiple Myeloma - Breast Cancer - Ovarian Cancer

Facilitators: Wellness House Staff
First Thursday of each month, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

These drop-in groups offer opportunities for persons experiencing the same type of cancer to gather for support, share their concerns, and exchange information. Please take advantage of the Relaxation and Guided Imagery session that is offered on the same evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
